There was a sharp growth in traffic volume of Chu Lai airport in the first 4 months of the year 2016; the airport saw 152,000 passengers, reached 49.5% at planned in 2016 and nearly equaled that of the whole year 2015 (154,549 passengers); facilitated 203 tons cargo, served 1,030 flights.

The 3 current operating airlines comprises of Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air and Jetstar Pacific to connect Chu Lai with Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh city by A320, A321 with frequency of average 6 flights/day.

In order to bring passengers with high-end services, ensure absolute safety for all flights and flight activities at airports under every condition, Chu Lai airport takes the initiative in implementing projects on infrastructure, facilities, human resources, including, additional waiting lounge with area of 200 square meters at the second floor, ensure 06 check-in counters with full capacity, allocate passenger flow, amend  service process, and proactively suggest airlines scheduling flights in interval, etc.

In May 2016, aviation light system of Chu Lai airport was licensed to be operational; moreover, automated weather observing system (AWOS) and airport security fences which are also put into operation will increase service quality, encourage more airlines opening new routes to/from Chu Lai. It’s predicted that there is a continuous increase in the traffic volume of Chu Lai airport in the near future.
