Passenger Terminal T2 at Phu Bai International Airport has proudly won the Gold Award in the Special Architectural Works category at the 2024-2025 National Architecture Awards, affirming its remarkable mark in the field of architecture through a harmonious blend of modernity and Vietnamese cultural identity.
The design concept for Terminal T2 was shaped by an in-depth study of Hue City's geographical and cultural context. Natural and cultural elements characteristic of this region such as the Ngu Mountain complex, the mountains encircling the city, the legendary Perfume River, and the historical and cultural values of the ancient capital of Hue, served as major sources of inspiration. The building’s design also reflects the richness of the imperial culture of Hue and incorporates motifs symbolizing the region’s long-standing heritage.

The exterior of Terminal T2 is heavily influenced by the architectural style of Hue’s royal palaces, featuring impressively layered roofs that have been stylish and adapted with a modern touch. From the approach road, the roof structure stretches and soars upward, creating an image reminiscent of Hue’s palaces rising into the sky. This design not only symbolizes the past but also expresses a strong aspiration for a bright and modern future.

Inside the terminal, the space is designed to be open, warmly welcoming passengers in a friendly manner. The large overhanging roofs serve as both architectural highlights and practical shelters from Hue’s characteristic rains. Natural light is brought into the terminal through a wooden louver system, illuminating the surface of the courtyard's reflective pool and creating a fresh, harmonious atmosphere with nature. This space is not merely a transit point but also offers a memorable experience for every passenger.
