Currently, Dong Hoi Airport operates with only one passenger terminal, T1, with a designed capacity of 500,000 passengers per year. However, in recent years, passenger traffic has exceeded the terminal’s design capacity. The growth rate of passenger transport at Dong Hoi Airport has been higher than the average growth rate across the Vietnamese airport system. It is projected that by the end of 2025, passenger traffic through Dong Hoi Airport will reach nearly 1 million passengers.

Thus, the groundbreaking of the Passenger Terminal T2 project at Dong Hoi Airport today is essential to meet transportation demand and enhance the quality of passenger services at the airport. It is categorized as a Group B project, with ACV as the project owner. The terminal T2 is being built on a 106,308 m² site, including the terminal and associated auxiliary works.

The project includes the following main components:

  • Passenger Terminal T2 will be built on a site of nearly 12,000 m², featuring two above-ground floors and a mezzanine floor, with separate departure and arrival levels.
  • Roadways, internal airport roads, and car parking areas will be constructed over more than 74,000 m².
  • Landscaping and greenery covering a total area of 6,549 m².

Passenger Terminal T2 at Dong Hoi Airport is designed with a capacity of 3 million domestic passengers per year (1,200 passengers during peak hours) and includes plans for expansion to accommodate up to 5 million passengers per year as needed (after 2030). The project ensures synchronized infrastructure development upon commissioning, in line with the detailed planning for Dong Hoi Airport to 2020, with orientation toward 2030, and the master plan for the development of the national airport system for 2021–2030, with a vision toward 2050.
