Enhancing Aviation Medical Capabilities and Emergency Response

On the afternoon of July 23, 2025, Da Nang International Airport and Military Hospital 17 – under the Logistics and Technical Department of Military Zone V – officially signed a Coordination Regulation regarding emergency medical response, air ambulance transport, and medical emergency situations at Da Nang International Airport.

Attending the signing ceremony were Mr. Phan Kieu Hung – Director of the airport, along with leaders of affiliated units. From Military Hospital 17, Lieutenant Colonel Huynh Duc Bac – the hospital's director – and medical experts were present. Representatives from relevant agencies also attended, including the Central Airport Authority, Da Nang Center for Disease Control, and Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company.

The regulation emphasizes that all coordination must strictly adhere to the functions, duties, and professional competencies of each party, with the highest priority being the safety of individuals and vehicles involved in the rescue. The scope of cooperation extends beyond emergency care and transport, covering:

  • Exchange of information and emergency medical documentation, initial first-aid consultation;
  • Joint training and emergency response drills at the airport as approved;
  • Participation in emergency care for passengers, greeters, or staff working at the airport;
  • Temporary reception of deceased bodies at Military Hospital 17 in special cases, pending official handover procedures.

The responsibilities of both sides are clearly defined:

  • Da Nang International Airport assumes the role of on-site commander, initiates emergency response plans, provides vehicles, manpower, and supports the medical team’s access to emergency locations. The airport is also responsible for providing information and covering incurred medical service costs.
  • Military Hospital 17 is responsible for dispatching medical personnel to the scene upon incidents, conducting emergency care, treatment, and transporting patients to appropriate healthcare facilities. The hospital also handles the reception and handover of deceased persons under special circumstances according to regulations.

This signing marks an important milestone in the airport’s roadmap toward professionalizing operations and emergency response processes – minimizing risks and damages in case of incidents, while strengthening passengers’ trust in the quality of services provided at the airport.
