On the early morning of the new year 2023, Danang City has jubilantly welcomed the first 02 flights in 2023 landing at the Domestic Terminal (T1) and the International Terminal (T2) at Danang International Airport, promising a great start to the year. The attendants of the ceremony are Mr. To Ngoc Hai - the Depute Director of Danang International Airport, representatives of Danang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Company (AHT), Danang Tourism Department, Central Airports Authority, Airlines with press units.
Accordingly, at 8:45am on 1st January 2023, the first domestic flight no.VN161 of Vietnam Airlines brought 131 passengers from Hanoi Capital to Danang City. At 10:00am on the same day, the first international flight VJ879 operated by Vietjet Air from Incheon, South Korea landed safely, welcoming 170 guests to visit the City. Joining the atmosphere of dragon dance performance, the first passengers at Danang International Airport are surprised to receive flowers bouquets and special gifts along with best wishes at the beginning of the year.
In order to meet the increasing demand during Tet Holiday, China Airlines will launch the Taipei - Danang route on 2nd January 2022 with a frequency of 5 flights/week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday). As planned, the airline's first flight ceremony will be held at the International Terminal - Danang International Airport to welcome the first passengers visiting the beautiful coastal city of Vietnam.
After a year of opening in the “new normal” condition, thanks to the active cooperation between Danang International Airport, AHT Company, Airlines with local government and related units to restore and promote flight network, passenger volume in 2022 has grown markedly, reaching more than 8.9 million passengers to and from Danang, quadrupling compared to 2021 and recovering 58% of 2019 volume.
According to the spring 2023 schedule, Danang International Airport will serve more than 500 round-trip domestic flights/week, connecting 09 routes to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, Buon Ma Thuot, Vinh, Da Lat, Hai Phong, Phu Quoc and Can Tho. Besides, international volume is expected to reach 250-270 round-trip flights/week with 15 routes connecting to Singapore, Thailand (Bangkok, Don Mueang, Chiang Mai), South Korea (Incheon, Muan, Busan, Daegu), Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur), Cambodia (Siem Reap), Taiwan (Taipei), India (New Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad) and Hong Kong.
